Ole Miss fans storm the field while there is still time left, causing a delay in the end of the game

Ole Miss fans couldn’t wait to celebrate Saturday night, but they started a little early.

The 16th-seeded Rebels pulled off an upset against No. 3 Georgia, holding the Bulldogs to just 10 points in the win.

It was a dominant victory for the Rebels from the start. They outscored the Bulldogs 28-3 after Georgia scored a touchdown on the game’s first drive.

It was a matter of when – not if – the fans would storm the field. And they acted hastily.

The Bulldogs faced a 4th-and-20 from their own 20-yard line with 27 seconds left. After a pass was completed, Georgia’s Arian Smith missed the first down.

The clock stopped with 16 seconds left and Ole Miss would run out the clock. The party was on and the fans stormed the field.

However, the game wasn’t over yet, leading to some chaos as referees, security guards and even the public address announcer attempted to disperse hundreds of fans from the pitch.

Order was quickly restored and the fans left the pitch. But as soon as the last knee fell, the fans sprinted straight back onto the pitch.

And it wasn’t long before they tore down one of the goalposts.

It’s hard to blame the Rebels faithful for their upset, as the win will likely give them a shot at making the College Football Playoff for now.

The loss was Georgia’s first against a team other than Alabama since November 7, 2020.
