Video: David Coote defames Jürgen Klopp in a foul-mouthed tirade

Video footage has emerged in which David Coote indulges in a foul-mouthed rant about Jürgen Klopp, in which he repeatedly defames the ex-Liverpool coach with inflammatory language.

The 42-year-old, who refereed our victory over Aston Villa on Saturday and sensationally declared that Leon Bailey’s last-man challenge on Mo Salah was not a foul before Darwin Nunez scored, was on the day Jordan Pickford scored , the VAR official also inflicted a cruciate ligament injury on Virgil van Dijk in the Merseyside derby in October 2020 when the Everton goalkeeper escaped without any penalty.

Empire of the Kop sources have now obtained footage (now widely shared online) of video clips in which a friend of Coote’s asks him what he thought of a Reds appearance, to which the Premier League referee replied: “Liverpool was shit”.

Then, when asked for his opinion on Klopp, the referee let loose: “Shit, absolute shit. When I played against Burnley in lockdown he not only took a big swipe at me but accused me of lying and then he just threw a bloody swipe at me. I have no interest in talking to someone so damn arrogant. I do my best not to talk to him…my god, German bastard. F*** me.”

The person next to Coote then said: “Long story short: Jürgen Klopp’s performance, Liverpool are all bloody darlings and we hate Scousers.”

In a subsequent video, the referee can be seen pleading for the footage not to be shared, a plea that apparently went unheeded despite his colleague imploring viewers not to “ruin his career.”

It is unclear exactly when this video was recorded, and it is not 100% certain what the context is and whether it was said in jest or reflects the 42-year-old’s innermost views on Klopp.

Regardless of when it was said or in what context, it still doesn’t look good for a professional Premier League referee in Coote to make such inflammatory comments about a manager who works or previously worked in the division.
