A death investigation is underway after a couple and two dogs were found shot to death in a Colorado home

CONIFER, Colo. (KKTV) – An investigation is underway after two seniors and their dogs were found dead in a Conifer home over the weekend.

Firefighters made the grisly discovery after the couple’s daughter stopped by the house Sunday night and was concerned that several calls to her parents were going unanswered.

“The doors were locked and when the daughter looked through a window, she saw her father lying on the ground and called 911,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Firefighters forced their way into the house and found the bodies of two 67-year-olds and the dogs. All had been shot.

Although the deaths remain under investigation, the sheriff’s office says no suspects are being sought in the case.

The couple had not been identified at the time of writing.
