Callaway County jury acquits man of sex crime charges

COLUMBIA, Missouri (KMIZ)

A Callaway County jury last week acquitted a man of seven counts related to child sex crimes.

Gilbert Sing was charged in June 2022 with child abuse, sodomy, sexual misconduct and witness tampering, among other charges. Authorities claimed the crimes were committed in 2019 and 2020.

His trial began last Tuesday and ended Thursday.

The jury deliberated for nearly eight hours before returning a not guilty verdict on all seven counts Sing faced.

Sing’s family said in messages to ABC 17 News they were glad Sing’s name had been cleared.
