Tomah man charged in fatal crash

MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) – A Tomah, Wisconsin man is charged in a fatal crash.

Online court records show 39-year-old Kristoffer Cattle is charged with first-degree manslaughter. Homicide by Drunk Use of Vehicle, Injury by Drunk Use/Vehicle, Reckless Driving – Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Knowingly Acting While Suspended (results in death), Knowingly Acting While Suspended (causing serious bodily injury), Bail Jumping – Misdemeanor, Driving on the Left of which operate in the middle (death) and left of center (serious bodily harm).

Online court records also show an initial court date is scheduled for December 16, 2024.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, on November 7, 2024, a vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and crashed into another vehicle.

63-year-old David Wilcox of Tomah was driving the vehicle that was struck. He died at the scene. A Wilcox passenger suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.

Prior to the accident, law enforcement was attempting to locate the vehicle that had strayed into the other lane. It was reported to be driving erratically after encountering a sign in the city of Sparta. Kristoffer Cattle, 39, of Tomah was driving this vehicle.

Cattle was arrested and booked into the Monroe County Jail.
