Wind Creek Chicago Southland opens new casino in Chicago area – NBC Chicago

A massive new casino opened in the Chicago area on Monday.

Opening to the public at 11 a.m., Wind Creek Chicago Southland brings a “state-of-the-art casino” to suburban East Hazel Crest, described as “the first step in providing a comprehensive, integrated resort experience.” Completion is scheduled for spring 2025.”

The 70,000-square-foot space will feature more than 1,400 slot machines, 56 table games, high-limit slots areas, a high-limit table games parlor, a poker room, a sports betting room and “four hidden gems throughout the casino floor.”

“The opening of Wind Creek Chicago Southland underscores our commitment to having a positive economic impact on the communities in which we operate,” Jay Dorris, president and CEO of Wind Creek Hospitality, said in a statement. “We are committed to creating opportunities that support the region, provide competitive advantages for team members and further strengthen the vibrant Southland community.”

The casino’s owners said the property is “just the beginning of what will become a flagship destination,” with plans to add world-class restaurants and more food and beverage offerings.

“Whether you’re looking for fine dining, quick service, or something in between, you won’t be disappointed because we’re creating something truly unforgettable,” said Fabio Viviani of Fabio Viviani Hospitality Group.

The group also said it plans to create more than 1,000 jobs and the suburbs of Homewood and Hazel Crest “will benefit from gaming revenue.”

“From the beginning, our mission has been to create jobs, stimulate economic growth and provide the ultimate entertainment experience,” Roger Kuehn, EVP and general manager of Wind Creek Chicago Southland, said in a statement. “We are excited to welcome our guests on November 11 to experience the excitement first hand.”
