Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is truly dedicated to his craft.

The action movie star, in a new tell-all cover story published Monday by GQ, partially confirmed details from a recent The Wrap report that claimed he would “pee in a bottle” and was sometimes late to the set of his new one Christmas film has come. Red.”

When asked about the former, Johnson replied: “Yes. This happens.” And in response to The Wrap’s report that he was chronically late by up to eight hours, he told GQ that while he was late to the set, it wasn’t “that much.” . He added: “That was a bananas amount. That’s crazy. Ridiculous.”

USA TODAY has reached out to Johnson’s representatives for comment.

In April, The Wrap reported that Johnson’s tardiness and producers’ inexperience led to costly delays to Amazon MGM’s holiday comedy “Red One,” costing $250 million. Representatives for Johnson and Amazon MGM denied the allegations at the time.

“Red One” director Jake Kasdan, who worked with the former wrestler on several films including “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and “Jumanji: The Next Level,” told GQ that Johnson “never missed a day of work. “There’s a lot going on. He can be late sometimes, but that’s Hollywood.

“I’ve never seen him be anything other than great to every single person on set,” Kasdan added.

Film co-star Chris Evans expressed similar praise.

Evans said that “compared to some things I’ve seen in other films with other actors who are oblivious to other people’s time and effort” and “unpredictable”, he thought Johnson was all business as usual.

“We all know exactly what he’s going to do when he’s going to do it,” Evans said.

Evans recalled “$5 Fridays” on set, where film productions offer daily raffles to which the set contributes. Stars are not typically in the running but are expected to contribute financially. Evans said on set one day that Johnson did his best.

“I’m really not exaggerating,” he began. “The pot was up to four or five grand or something, and before they pulled the name out, Dwayne said, ‘How big is the pot right now?’ And someone said, “I don’t know, four grand.” And he said, ‘Let’s call it 20.'”

The “Captain America” star told the network that Johnson increased the jackpot multiple times, up to what Evans estimated to be “close to a hundred thousand dollars.”

“Red One,” which also stars JK Simmons as Old St. Nick with Johnson as North Pole security chief Callum Drift and bounty hunter Jack O’Malley (Evans), is scheduled to hit theaters Friday.
