Roenick is presenting at the Legends Classic and is excited about being inducted into the Hall of Fame

TORONTO – Jeremy Roenick put on a show at the Hyundai Hockey Hall of Fame Legends Classic at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday, and he didn’t just dance around the ice as part of the team’s three goals – two in regulation, one in the shootout – Lindros’ 9: 7 loss to Team Hefford.

During a timeout, the 54-year-old forward grabbed a microphone, stood in the middle of the ice and asked fans to dance with him. As WALK THE MOON’s “Shut Up and Dance” played over the speakers, he demonstrated another series of moves.

“It’s always nice to just go out and relive it but also get the fans involved,” Roenick said. “And we have fun. We should have fun.”

Roenick will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday for his playing ability alongside Natalie Darwitz, Pavel Datsyuk, Shea Weber and Krissy Wendell-Pohl, but he will also be remembered for his personality.

His dance routine at the Legends Classic was reminiscent of what he danced with the Los Angeles Kings at the Frozen Fury at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on September 24, 2005.

A plexiglass panel broke during a 2-1 preseason loss to the Colorado Avalanche. As the crew worked, Roenick began shaking his body to the Bee Gees’ song “You Should Be Dancing.” He then danced to center ice as the crowd cheered and the other players looked on.

And then he kept going, singing, moving his head and shaking his hips to “Get Down Tonight” by KC and the Sunshine Band.

“The music was playing, so I decided to dance for everyone,” Roenick said. “Everyone got up and danced with me and we wiped out about ten minutes of downtime. It was fantastic.”
