Karine Jean-Pierre is asked if Biden and Harris were “awkward” at their first lunch since the election – and the reaction says it all

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked Tuesday whether President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ post-election lunch at the White House was “uncomfortable.”

Harris returned to the White House complex on Tuesday for the first time since her painful election defeat a week ago to former President Donald Trump.

Aides stood on the steps of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building to catch a glimpse of the now-former Democratic candidate, who told them to keep the faith before she walked over to her lunch with Biden.

“I don’t even understand it. Why should it be uncomfortable? Why should it be uncomfortable?’ Jean-Pierre responded to Fox News’ Peter Doocy. “Why would you call it unpleasant? They have regular lunches. They meet regularly and talk.’

Jean-Pierre then referred to Biden and Harris’ joint appearance at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday to mark Veterans Day.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was not pleased when Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked whether President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ post-election lunch was “uncomfortable.”

“Did you see the show of force together?” she asked.

While she said she didn’t want to get into the “premise of this question,” she said that Biden and Harris “had lunch today.”

“They’ve had lunch many times,” she added. “They’ve had the opportunity to talk about the last 70 days or so of this administration and talk about how important it is to get things done for the American people, and that’s what they’re focused on. That’s really their focus.”

On Monday, Harris appeared somber as she walked alongside the 81-year-old president to a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

But it was the stone-faced look on First Lady Dr. Jill Biden said as she sat next to Harris, which sparked all sorts of chatter online.

While there was some bad blood between the two women after Biden’s first debate appearance alongside Harris in Miami in June 2019, Dr. Biden officially endorsed Harris in the run-up to the election last Tuesday.

As for the president, he was largely sidelined at the end of the campaign cycle for inadvertently calling Trump supporters “trash.”

The White House emphasized calling a pro-Trump comedian “trash” after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe insulted the entire island of Puerto Rico at the Republican rally at Madison Square Garden.

There was even a dispute between the Biden press shop and the White House stenographer’s office after Biden’s press aides changed punctuation in a transcript to indicate that Biden was only calling one Trump supporter – the comedian – “trash” and not every Trump supporter.

The now president-elect compared it to Hillary Clinton calling his MAGA movement supporters “deplorables” before her loss to him in 2016.

Eight years later, Democrats are licking their wounds again.

Trump travels to Washington, DC on Wednesday for meetings on Capitol Hill and then to the White House for the traditional meeting between the current president and the president-elect.
