Following the wild pattern of events that unfolded in the first season, Garvey is still haunting Eva (Horgan), Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene) and Becka (Eve Hewson). Crime. The excitement and – sometimes – silliness and sisterhood continue as the first two episodes arrive on November 13th, followed by one episode per week until December 23rd.

Read on for what you should remember Bad sisters Season 1 before Season 2.

The idiot, aka Grace’s husband, is dead

Season 1 of Bad sisters builds up to the death of John Paul (JP) Williams (Claes Bang), husband of Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), one of the five Garvey sisters. The story spins a back-and-forth narrative that alternates between the time before his death and the time after his death, getting closer and closer to the truth behind his death. He is nicknamed “The Idiot” because of his unforgivable behavior not only towards the Garvey sisters, but especially towards Grace, his wife. He made her feel small and limited both her and her daughter Blanaid’s (Saise Quinn) activities.

As the season progresses, viewers learn that Eva and Bibi initially tried to kill JP alone by setting off a gas explosion in his and Grace’s vacation cabin, but that didn’t work because he happened to be outside trying to call Eva when the wildfire started took place. Bibi and Eva then roped Ursula, a nurse, into the plot. Urse tried adding various substances such as poison and pentobarbital to suffocate the prick, but the failed experiment with the poisoned liver ended with Oscar, the family dog, dying, not JP, and the pentobarbital somehow didn’t kill him. In fact, he tried to drive with the drugs in his system and went to the nearby harbor to try to get on his boat, but he fell into the water. Eva’s colleague Gabriel (Assaad Bouab) saves him from drowning.

When Becka got involved in the plans, she devised an elaborate plan to lock John Paul in the freezer in the basement of his parents’ house, where he happened to keep his father George’s body. Eva didn’t want Becka to go through with this plan, but she tried anyway, thinking she was successful because someone went into the freezer, but it turned out that it had been JP’s mother Minna (Nina Norén) that Becka was with together was bound.

Grace did it

In the season one finale titled “Saving Grace,” viewers learn that Grace and Grace alone killed her husband by strangling him after he was particularly nasty to her and revealed that he had raped Eva. Inspired by the film Isadora Starring Vanessa Redgrave, Grace knitted a red scarf and placed JP on her ATV, with the scarf wrapped around his neck and caught in the car’s steering wheel, making it look like he had been accidentally suffocated.

Her neighbor Roger Muldoon (Michael Smiley) helped her organize the body, and he also kept the secret.

All five Garvey sisters had a motive for killing JP

Eva was working with Jon Paul, and he unfairly beat her to a promotion when he suggested to her boss that she might not be suitable for the role due to her relationship with alcohol, which was only hinted at by a photo of her Passed out on the boat was the morning after Grace’s 35thTh birthday party. At this point, JP also raped Eva, which also resulted in the miscarriage of a pregnancy she had tried so hard to achieve. In the more contemporary part of the series, she has given up trying to get pregnant, and viewers learn that this happened between her and a man she loved and whom she will one day meet with his wife and children.

JP was the reason Bibi lost her right eye. One rainy evening they were driving home and he speeded viciously across the road. Suddenly, as he braked, Eva’s face fell on a religious statuette he had on the dashboard of his car.

Ursula had an affair with a man named Ben (Peter Coonan), who was her “photography teacher.” JP discovered this early on and threatened to tell her husband Donal (Jonjo O’Neill), but she prevented this. JP even went so far as to put his number in her phone under Ben’s contact information and get Ursula to send him a nude photo, which he texted to Donal. She rushed to the hospital, where they both worked to delete the messages from his phone before he could see them. There was a moment last season where Donal asked why Ursula wasn’t home all the time.

Becka was financially screwed over by JP. He offered to finance her massage business, but then he went back on his word and forced Grace to tell Becka. Becka signed the deposit she was going to put down for work at the studio before JP resigned.

Claffin & Sons Insurance dug up all the details

Thomas Claffin (Brian Gleeson) and his half-brother Matt (Daryl McCormack) initially led the investigation into John Paul Williams’ death because Thomas knew that his father’s life insurance company could not pay out the claim under John Paul’s policy. Even though they didn’t really have the authority to do so, the two challenged all five sisters to poke holes in their narrative and find reasons to prevent the payout.

Thomas’ wife was pregnant and expecting a baby last season, and Matt fell hard for Becka Garvey, without either of them realizing the seriousness of their flirtatious relationship until a few episodes into the first season. Thomas managed to convince Inspector Gergal Loftus (Barry Ward) to exhume John Paul’s body by getting Grace to sign the papers without knowing what she was doing.

Matt is the one who fully figured out what Grace was doing when he put the puzzle pieces together in the cabin, and after Becka failed to anesthetize him with pentobarbital, which he never realized was a possibility, he agreed to give all the information to keep secret if Grace dropped the life insurance claim.

JP hid his father’s body at the bottom of the backyard pond

Before meeting his end, JP decided to hide the frozen corpse of his father, who was not a nice man, at the bottom of their large pond in the backyard of his parents’ house. He watched his father choke on an acrylic eyeball he used for his taxidermy in the basement, and he did nothing to stop the moment. After the suitcase, he dumped the entire bowl full of eyeballs from his father’s hobby into the lake. This marks the connection for Season 2.
