Here’s how to watch Mike Tyson and Jake Paul before Friday’s fight – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The biggest name in boxing is coming out of retirement this week.

“Iron” Mike Tyson will face YouTuber and former boxer Jake Paul in Arlington.

Preparations for the main event began Tuesday in Irving.

Hundreds lined up outside the Toyota Music Factory for open training sessions Tuesday afternoon, including members of the Los Gallos Boxing Club, one of the oldest boxing clubs in Dallas.

“As a little kid I grew up watching Jake Paul, watching his YouTube videos and my dad always told me who Mike Tyson was, I really wanted to see them. It’s a really cool privilege to come along,” said Los Gallos Boxing Club member Nicholas Salinas.

“It’s not really about us adults, it’s about the children. They are more excited. They’ve been talking about it all week,” said Los Gallos Boxing Club coach Javier Armenta.

Inside, boxers from the seven fights scheduled for Friday, including Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, showed off their speed in the ring.

Paul, 27, promised fans that Friday would be an early night for Tyson.

The fight is scheduled for 7 p.m. at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates the event will draw about 50,000 visitors to the city, compared to about 75,000 expected when the fight was originally scheduled for the summer.

The July game had to be postponed after Tyson suffered an ulcer attack that sent him to hospital. He recovered quickly but had to slow down his training.

At the Toyota Music Factory, the 58-year-old entered the ring in front of a cheering audience. He went through some of his signature moves and then showed his softer side as he talked about his son, who was there and expected to be at Friday’s fight.

“Family is everything, but I am nothing to my children. But on Friday they will find out that I am very special,” Tyson said.

After his workout, Tyson stopped to sign gloves and hats for members of the Los Gallos Boxing Club.

After receiving Tyson’s signature, one young fan told NBC 5, “I feel great. I’ve been waiting for this my whole life!”
