Elba launched his champagne and Provence rosé brand Porte Noire in 2020 in collaboration with wine connoisseur David Farber.

“I have always appreciated cognac for its complexity and richness,” said Elba. “I wanted to create something that felt like an extension of what we already did with Porte Noire, something luxurious but accessible.”

Bottled at 40% ABV, Porte Noire Cognac’s tasting notes include dried apricot, vanilla, subtle oak notes and hints of honey and caramel.

The cognac is described as versatile and is suitable for drinking neat and mixing into cocktails.

Alexandre Gabriel, owner of Maison Ferrand, said: “As owner and master blender of Maison Ferrand, I have always looked for great sources of inspiration for making unique cognacs and meeting Idris was one of those moments.”
