Watch 58-year-old Mike Tyson pedal before his fight against Jake Paul

Mike Tyson still has it.

Who is the betting favorite for the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight?

Although he is no longer the youthful heavyweight champion he once was, there is a saying that strength is the last thing that leaves an aging fighter, and that seems to be true for Tyson, who at 58 is still putting in a strong performance shows.

Tyson, who hasn’t fought professionally since 2005 and is a few years removed from a match against Roy Jones Jr., is seeking KO No. 45 on his professional record. Tyson faces a much larger age difference and challenge in his fight with Jake Paul, 27, in a rematch on Netflix, which takes place this Friday in Arlington, Texas.

“There’s a fundamental difference between me and Jake,” Tyson said of the influencer-turned-boxer in the Netflix series “Countdown to the Fight.” “He is an artificial murderer. TV and newspapers made him a murderer. It is artificially made. I am a born murderer.”

It was no surprise that Tyson got the biggest pop of the night from fans when he entered the ring for open training sessions at the Toyota Music Factory on Tuesday. There, “Iron” Mike showed off what was left of his speed and strength by hitting the pads with famed trainer Rafael Cordeiro.

Holding pads is harder than it looks as Cordeiro prepares to hit Tyson’s short attacks and vintage combos that Paul will have to watch out for, especially in the early stages of their eight-round match.

Perhaps a different fire was lit under Tyson this time with his family behind him, the former champion said in his post-training interview:

“Family is everything. I am nobody to my children. But this night they will find out that their father is very special.”
