Nick Saban will return as LSU’s head coach, replacing Brian Kelly

Brian Kelly’s downfall is just around the corner after his poor performances in big games this season and throughout his time at LSU. Since the start of the 2022 season, Brian Kelly is now 5-9 against ranked opponents and is not even close to making the playoffs, with his best finish being 13th. After last weekend’s embarrassing 13-42 home loss to Alabama, there is only one man who can save this school. That guy is Nick Saban.

The CV speaks for itself. Saban’s all-time head coaching record is 292-71-1, he has seven national championships (six Alabama/one LSU) and has an overall record of 161-33 in SEC play. Additionally, Saban is one of the best recruiters of all time. In 17 years at Alabama, Saban coached 66 All-Americans and drafted 133 players into the NFL. It goes without saying that Saban is the greatest college coach of all time and the most dominant coach to ever step on a football field. The question is: What can LSU do to get him to return?

Since Saban’s retirement, he has been part of the College Gameday team, which goes through most games every Saturday. He’s shown moments of wanting to be there, but since her personality matches the likes of Pat McAfee, it just gets awkward at points. He’s gotten better at it, but with the knowledge that Saban has and as anyone who follows game day knows, his heart is still in coaching.

Nick Saban has already won a championship at LSU and can do it again. LSU has one of the better recruiting classes every year, and with Saban on board, it’s sure to be one of the top five classes. One of the reasons people say he retired is because of NIL and the questions surrounding it, but since he has a year to relax, he might approach it differently. If I were LSU, I would give the man a blank check to get this team back to the promised land. He’s done it before in Baton Rouge, he’ll do it again if the opportunity arises.
