Jean-Pierre irritated by question about possible “craziness” between Harris and Biden: “I don’t even understand it”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday objected to Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy’s question about whether President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent lunch was “uncomfortable.”

“We know that President Biden and Vice President Harris had a private lunch today, a week after the election. How embarrassing was that?” Doocy asked after a series of other questions.

“I don’t even understand it. Why should it, why should it be unpleasant?” Jean-Pierre replied.

Doocy explained: “The president was squeezed for her, and then she kept him at arm’s length, and then she lost. And now she’s back.”

Jean-Pierre assured Doocy that the president and vice president had a good relationship, claiming that “they have lunch regularly” and “meet and chat regularly.”

“Why would you call it embarrassing?” she asked again.

“So there’s nothing strange about the way things have turned out since last time,” Doocy replied.

“Did you see them together yesterday? “Did you see the show of force together?” she asked, referring to Biden and Harris honoring veterans together during the holiday Monday.

“That’s, look, I’m not even going to look at the question as a premise,” the press secretary continued. “What I want to say is that the president and vice president had lunch today. They have had lunch many times. They communicate with each other regularly. “They’ve had a chance to discuss the last 70 days or so of this administration – how important that is.” They’re passionate about getting things done for the American people.

Tensions are said to be rising between Biden, the White House and the Harris campaign: “Too much in their feelings”

As Democrats take things back into their own hands after President-elect Donald Trump’s decisive victory, some of Harris’ supporters are expressing frustration with Biden’s decision to continue his re-election campaign into the summer – despite long-standing concerns about his age, inflation and the Border security – his party’s capitulation from the White House is all but sealed.

Biden has campaigned and endorsed Harris this cycle, but he also made a number of mistakes during the roughly 100-day Harris-Walz campaign that likely hurt her chances of winning the election.

Biden and Trump will meet at the White House on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Doocy asked if the vice president was invited, but Jean-Pierre said, “That is the norm, that the new president and the current president sit in the oval office and discuss.”

Doocy also asked whether Biden would ask Trump to pardon his son Hunter, since he has promised not to do so himself.

“I have nothing further to say,” she said. “I’m not going to go in there and throw myself into a skid. I made myself very clear. The president was very clear when we were asked that question.”
