Fans condemn Whoopi Goldberg as ‘tone deaf’ for saying she has to ‘work for a living’

Whoopi Goldberg has come under fire for saying she has to “work for a living.”

The “View” co-host was criticized online for comparing herself to working- and middle-class Americans who are having a “hard time” in the current economic climate.

“I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me too. I work to make a living,” Goldberg said Tuesday during a segment about Donald Trump’s presidential election victory.

“If I had all the money in the world, I wouldn’t be here, okay? So I’m a working person.”

“She has to be one of the most deaf celebrities I’ve ever seen. I really don’t know how anyone actually watches this lady other than to mock her,” another user wrote.

“She has to be one of the most deaf and dumb celebrities I have ever seen. I really don’t know how anyone actually watches this lady other than to mock her,” one person wrote on X in response.
“All these overpaid actors have no connection to reality at all,” chimed in another.

“All these overpaid actors have no connection to reality at all. 💯,” another netizen added.

“😂😂😂 When was the last time she went to a grocery store lol,” a fifth person quipped.

Goldberg’s comments about having a “hard time” came after she faced backlash last week for calling grocers “pigs.”

“Their wallets are bad, not because the Bidens have done anything. Not because the economy is bad. “Their grocery bills are what they are because the people who own the groceries are pigs,” the “Sister Act” star said on the Nov. 7 episode of “The View.”

Viewers also took to social media at the time to call out Goldberg for the remark.

“When was the last time she went to a supermarket? I bet it’s been a while,” one user wrote, while another added, “She’s slandering all grocery store owners. She is despicable.”
