Internet outages at Verizon Fios affect customers in the DC area, millions on the East Coast

A Verizon Fios internet outage is affecting millions of customers in the Washington, DC area, including millions on the East Coast.

According to the website DownDetector, the affected area stretches about 300 miles from Philadelphia to Richmond, Virginia.

Reports of the outages increased between midnight and 2 a.m. At least 10,000 people in the D.C. region have reported an outage.

A Verizon spokesperson released the following statement to FOX 5:

“A network issue disrupted service for a short period of time for some Verizon Fios customers in the Northeast early this morning. Once the issue was identified, our engineering teams quickly restored service.”
