103-year-olds vote in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – While first-time voters will play a big role in Tuesday’s election, 103-year-old Margaret Knegter is no stranger to voting in Eau Claire.

She was born in 1921, just a year after the 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote.

Margaret says she voted for Kamala Harris in this election and shares what it means to vote for a woman for president.

“I never thought it would happen, I never did, but she is well qualified,” Knegter said.

Although she says she can’t remember the first time she voted, she can say she tried to vote whenever she could and has been voting since moving to Eau Claire 11 years ago voted in every election.
