2 children killed after driver speeding and running red light in crash in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Two children were killed after a driver ran a red light at a high rate of speed, causing a four-vehicle crash, Las Vegas City Police said. The police are still looking for the driver.

According to LVMPD, the crash occurred near Flamingo and Pecos around 5:13 p.m. According to police, the driver of a 2014 Lexus GS350 approached the intersection at a high rate of speed, ran the red light and crashed into a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander at the intersection.

According to police, there was a driver, a 30-year-old woman and four unidentified teenagers in the Mitsubishi. Two of the children were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. Two other children suffered minor injuries and were treated and released, police said. The driver was also treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Lexus left the scene, leaving behind his two passengers, both of whom were injured, police said. As of early Saturday morning, LVMPD had not identified the driver.

The two juveniles will be identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office once next of kin is notified.
