US election 2024

Bloomberg News is reporting live on the election results in the presidential race between Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and her Republican challenger, former President Donald Trump.

First polls close on Tuesday, November 5th at 6pm Eastern Time. Due to slow reporting in key states, it is possible that neither candidate will reach the 270 electoral votes needed to win on election night.

In addition to the vote counting, Bloomberg News also follows the development of the prediction markets. These numbers reflect the candidates’ chances of winning the presidency, according to participants trading in three of these markets.

Critics say some markets are illiquid or vulnerable to manipulation. Proponents say markets are useful for aggregating information and the potential for profit creates incentives to fix mistakes.
