5 hospitalized after multi-vehicle crash in Miami – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

MIAMI (WSVN) – Five people were hospitalized, one in critical condition, after a three-car crash in Miami, officials said.

Miami police and firefighters responded to the scene of the accident at Northwest 12th Avenue and 62nd Street on Friday afternoon.

According to police, five people were injured in the accident, one of whom was trapped in a car.

Aerial photos show a knocked down light pole and significant damage to vehicles.

The Miami Technical Rescue Team helped officers free the driver of one of the cars. That driver was taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Another person was taken to the same hospital in serious condition.

The three others were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

As a result of the crash, a water main break occurred in the area, requiring the assistance of Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department crews.

While investigating the crash, police closed streets between Northwest 11th and 13th Avenues and between 61st and 63rd Streets.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
