76ers’ Tyrese Maxey expected to miss several weeks with hamstring injury: source

After their fourth straight loss, the Philadelphia 76ers can expect more bad news. Star point guard Tyrese Maxey is expected to miss several weeks with a right hamstring injury, a team source confirmed Thursday. ESPN was first to report the news. According to the source, Maxey will be reevaluated later on Thursday.

Maxey, 24, was sidelined by the injury early in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the LA Clippers. He scored 12 points and added an assist and a rebound in 32 minutes.

The 2024 All-Star is averaging a team-high 27.6 points this season. Philadelphia was hoping to have its trio of Maxey, Joel Embiid and Paul George ready to play together, but due to various issues that hasn’t happened yet this season.

Embiid, who missed the first two weeks of the season due to what the Sixers are calling “left knee injury management,” is currently serving a three-game suspension for shoving a reporter in the locker room. He is eligible to return on November 12 against the New York Knicks.

George made his debut in Monday’s game against the Suns and played Wednesday against the Clippers – a 110-98 loss that dropped the Sixers to 1-6 – after missing the start of the season with a knee injury.
