A Fort Pierce woman was found shot to death in the street

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. – A body found near a Brevard County road earlier this week has been identified as a Fort Pierce woman, officials said.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said 20-year-old Aniya Sheppard of Fort Pierce was found shot to death near Eber Boulevard in unincorporated West Melbourne.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation began when officers responded to the area of ​​Eber Boulevard near Buddy Drive around 6:40 a.m. after an officer was tipped off by a resident that there appeared to be a body right next to the road lies.

When officers arrived, they discovered the victim had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The investigation is ongoing as officers continue to conduct interviews and evaluate evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears that the victim was the intended target of this violent attack.”
