A man dies in a fire in three cars

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – Around 4 a.m. Sunday morning, Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler was called to the 700 block of 9th Avenue.

Coroner Fowler tells WALB three cars were on fire. Investigators believe one of the cars rammed the other two cars that were in the yard, causing the incident.

During a preliminary investigation, Coroner Fowler confirmed that one person died in the car.

The victim’s sister told WALB that she heard a loud explosion outside her home around 1:30 a.m.

She said her brother occasionally rests outside in his car before driving home to Atlanta.

According to Fowler, there is no positive identification of the person who died. The body will be sent to the crime lab for positive identification.

Investigators are now working to find out what caused the accident and why.
