A man was killed in a car accident near Pymatuning State Park on Saturday

MEADVILLE – Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a traffic accident Saturday morning near Pymatuning State Park in western Crawford County that killed a 47-year-old man.

The crash was reported just before 2 a.m. Saturday on East Lake Road in South Shenango Township, north of Jamestown.

According to State Police in Meadville, a 2009 Honda Pilot was traveling southbound on East Lake Road at a high rate of speed when it went out of control on a curve, struck an embankment and trees and then rolled approximately 200 feet. The driver was thrown from the car, police reported.

Crawford County Coroner Eric Coston said the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 3:15 a.m. Saturday. He identified the man Monday as Edward J. Lipps, who he said lived in Jamestown.
