Anne Hathaway and Zendaya are the latest cast members in Christopher Nolan’s new film | Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway and Zendaya are set to star in Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated next film.

According to Deadline, the two actors will join the previously announced cast of Matt Damon and Tom Holland. Details of the project have been kept under wraps, but sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that it will not be set in modern day.

Nolan’s follow-up to Oppenheimer has been dated July 17, 2026, with an Imax release. Filming for the film is expected to begin in 2025.

It will be an on-screen reunion for off-screen partners Zendaya and Holland. The two are also expected to return to their roles in the fourth Spider-Man film, which is currently dated a week after Nolan’s film.

“All I can say is that I’m incredibly excited,” Holland said of taking part in Nolan’s next project. “And of course I’m honored, but that’s all I can say, because to be honest, that’s all I know.” He said the call reminded him “of the call about Spider-Man before 10 years”.

Hathaway has previously worked with Nolan in both Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises. “A lot of people didn’t give me roles because they were so worried about how toxic my identity had become online,” Hathaway said in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. “I had an angel in Christopher Nolan who didn’t care and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I’ve ever had in one of the best films [Interstellar] that I was involved in.”

Hathaway recently starred in the romantic comedy “The Idea of You” and the historical thriller “Mothers’ Instinct.” She will next appear opposite Michaela Coel in the pop star drama Mother Mary and next summer in the sci-fi thriller Flowervale Street with Ewan McGregor.

Zendaya recently starred in Luca Guadagnino’s hit tennis drama Challengers and the fantasy sequel Dune: Part Two. She is currently filming The Drama with Robert Pattinson for Dream Scenario director Kristoffer Borgli.

Nolan comes off the commercial and critical hit “Oppenheimer,” the historical biopic that became a summer 2023 blockbuster, grossing $976 million worldwide and later winning the Oscar for Best Picture.

When asked if he wanted to repeat that success for his next project, Nolan said: “I think you can’t worry too much about the relationship of one film to the next. I get bored very quickly, I like to keep working. It’s exciting to think about what’s next.”
