Another death is attributed to Tropical Storm Helene


In Henderson County, the death toll from Tropical Storm Helene has risen to 10, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has attributed two more deaths in Henderson County to Tropical Storm Helene, bringing the toll to 10.

The latest victim is a 51-year-old man who died Sept. 30 in Henderson County from a pre-existing medical condition that was worsened by the storm and did not return to baseline condition, according to information released by the NC Department of Health and Human Services.

Further details were initially not known.

A 62-year-old man died Oct. 19 in Henderson County due to health problems and lacked access to oxygen in the days following the hurricane.

As the Times-News previously reported, eight more people died from drowning, flooding or accidents related to storm debris.
