AP Top 25 college football rankings poll released after Week 11

The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings are in after Week 11 of college football, and there were some upsets after another wild weekend!

Miami fell victim to surprise fever against Georgia Tech, Alabama dominated LSU, Ole Miss beat Georgia and the Big Ten is in for a wild ending. Oh yes, according to the balance sheet, the Big 12 now has two clear teams at the top.

Let’s take a look at the latest AP Poll top 25 rankings after Week 11.

Oregon is the frontrunner, well, duck. A dominant win over Maryland was just the latest for this undefeated team at the top of the Big Ten.

Dillon Gabriel is still in the Heisman discussion, but perhaps still a little away from winning the award this year. Still, Oregon has its sights set on a national title at the conclusion of the 2024 season.

The Buckeyes defeated Purdue 45-0, so no, there wasn’t another surprise from the Boilermakers. See what we did there? NO? Okay, let’s move on.

Jeremiah Smith set the school record for a first-year wide receiver with his ninth touchdown of the season. Next up is Northwestern before a showdown with unbeaten Indiana.

Texas dominated Florida, so there was no “Billy Napier sticks around” magic. The Longhorns saw Quinn Ewers throw for 333 yards and five touchdowns. Simple thing, right?

After the loss to Georgia, Texas appears to be back. Now can they stay at the top of the SEC until the end?

Penn State bounced back from its loss to Ohio State with a 35-6 win over Washington. Tyler Warren had two touchdown runs and caught eight passes for 75 yards.

Penn State also led 28-0 at halftime, so the White Out energy can be maintained for a possible playoff home game, assuming the Nittany Lions are ranked high enough of course! PSU travels to Purdue for its next game.

Indiana needed one of these games, right? The Hoosiers beat Michigan at home 20-15 in front of a loud crowd in Bloomington. The win moved them to 10-0 on the season.

Now comes the big game. Indiana will travel to Ohio State in two weeks. A win there and it might be time to start thinking about whether this team could actually win a national championship.

Tennessee defeated Mississippi State 33-14 to improve to 8-1 overall and near the top of the SEC. However, starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava missed the second half due to injury.

The good news is that Josh Heupel said it was out of an abundance of caution. You better hope so, because the Vols are going to need him against Georgia. A win there could almost secure a playoff spot, right?

7. BYU (+2)

BYU needed a comeback and maybe some help from the officials to beat Utah. All joking aside, BYU is still undefeated this season and sits atop the Big 12.

One has to wonder, given what’s happening in the ACC at this point, if they end up going undefeated, will they get the No. 3 seed? Very possible.

Notre Dame defeated Florida State 52-3. At this point it probably says more about FSU since they are 1-9 this season.

The Fighting Irish have been on the rise since losing to NIU in September. With three games left, there is a clear path to 11-1 and a playoff spot for Marcus Freeman and his team.

With a confident victory over LSU in Baton Rouge, Alabama returned to everyone’s favor. Jalen Milroe was scary good at running the football, although the day wasn’t exactly great, although he really didn’t need to be.

The Crimson Tide get Mercer in the next game, so no offense to them, but chalk this up as a win. Alabama is firmly back in the playoff hunt, if not back in the predicted round.

Ole Miss earned the biggest win of the Lane-Kiffin era by defeating Georgia at home. That’s a big monkey off the head coach’s back.

With the win, the Rebels are back in the top 10 and have kept their College Football Playoff hopes alive. It always helps to have a big win over Georgia on your resume.
