Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth reunite

And it goes without saying that Chenoweth and Menzel feel exactly the same way, especially considering it’s Grande’s turn as Glinda, bringing the singer full circle.

“When she was 10, she said to me, ‘I want to be you. I want to play Glinda.’ In the same voice,” Chenoweth explained on the red carpet. “Obviously we are close. I’ve known her since she was ten.”

Noting that the “7 Rings” singer was “both crying” when she arrived at the audition, she added, as Grande landed the role: “We both sounded like dolphins.”

Actually after that Victorious When Alum was cast, she told Chenoweth, “’I want to make you proud. I would like to pay my respects to you.’”

An achievement that the Broadway star noted has already come true. She recalled telling Grande, “‘You’re going to do all this, but put your own stamp on it.'” And she did.”
