Arvin hosts Hometown Heroes Night and the inaugural Veterans Day Parade

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Veterans Day is still four days away, but the celebrations have begun. Core veterans were guests of honor at the Hometown Heroes Night event in Arvin.

The city of Arvin held its first Veterans Day parade Thursday afternoon. Vets were invited to the Hometown Heroes Night dinner at the Arvin Veterans Hall.

The final Art After Dark event of 2024 will take place in downtown Bakersfield

The vets were treated to a meal, live music, camaraderie and more. Organizers said it was the least they could do for those who bravely served the nation.

“Whether they were in combat or working in the background with the trash, as we always said, everyone, every veteran helped build this country, and it’s up to citizens to thank them, especially the Vietnam veterans, to give that thanks.” “You really never got that welcome home,” said Armando Soliz with Honor Flight Kern County.
