AS Monaco’s Denis Zakaria will miss the game against Bologna but expects to return soon

Denis Zakaria (27) has become an indispensable part of AS Monaco. After moving from Juventus, he was dominant in his debut season and was given the armband in the summer.

He was injured during the warm-up against OGC Nice just over a week ago and was taken out of the lineup a few minutes before kick-off and replaced by Soungoutou Magassa. This absence coincided with Monaco’s first defeat of the season. Zakaria also missed the weekend game against SCO Angers, with the same effect. The Swiss midfielder, who has been unbeaten since the start of the season and even in six months, suffered two consecutive defeats with an injury.

Looking to get back on their feet, they face Bologna in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, but will once again be without Zakaria, who was left out of the traveling group. Adi Hütter announced a return against RC Strasbourg Alsace. “We miss Denis,” the Monaco manager began.

“I definitely think he will be back for Strasbourg. I am convinced that without him we can play a good game against a good team in Bologna. We’ll see how we manage without him on the pitch tomorrow,” he added.
