Beaver Moon 2024: Watch the final “supermoon” of the year rise alongside the “Seven Sisters.”

The fourth and final “supermoon” of 2024 will be 100% illuminated on Friday, November 15th – but the best time to see it from North America is when it rises in the east on November 16th.

November Full moon is commonly called the “beaver moon” because this time of year is when beavers build their winter dams in the northeastern United States, according to timeanddate.com. In North America it is also called the Frost Moon and Snow Moon because the continent is on the verge of winter and the colder temperatures that come with it. According to the Center for Native American Studies, the Anishinaabeg call the August moon “Baashkaakodin Giizis,” which means “freezing moon.”
