Benny Blanco’s “Sexy Gentleman” rules for the sexiest man in the world

The producer, who is dating Selena Gomez, is featured in the magazine’s highly anticipated hottest issue with tips on epic first dates and cooking.

By now you’ve probably heard or seen Benny Blanco’s skills in the kitchen. The Grammy-nominated producer, who has been dating Selena Gomez for a year, previewed some of his best tips on being a good boyfriend People The annual issue of Sexiest Man Alive magazine.

Blanco, 36, who the magazine said will be included in its upcoming annual Guys Countdown, revealed his eight secrets to success in love and life, emphasizing that you should never play “games” and that you always have your Bring your own game for every trip.

“I [still] Give it your all on every date. This doesn’t mean you have to spend your entire bank account. It means paying attention and listening,” said Blanco, who is pictured courtside at Lakers games, cuddling with Gomez and going all out to celebrate their first Valentine’s Day together, where he brings an air fryer to a rented movie theater, so that he can provide her singer with her favorite snacks.

The producer gave the magazine a series of eight simple tips on how to be a sexy man. This includes:

  • Learn to cook – “Even if you’re terrible at cooking, [your partner will] I like it because you did it. Ask your partner what he would like to eat. Don’t try to cook them anything You want to eat. If you don’t know how to make it, learn,” said Blanco, dropping his Open wide: A cookbook for friends Cookbook earlier this year. And if you can’t cook, he said you can always order Postmates and pretend you made it yourself. Bonus tip: “Try to be chivalrous: tell her how pretty she is.” Chivalry is not dead.”
  • Make the first date an experience: The message you want is for your partner to say, “Oh my God, I’m calling all my friends.” That was the craziest thing. We were in the back of a flying tractor trailer and he let me…’ It must be something crazy because you want to make an impression. “The person is going to have a lot of first dates and you have to secure your spot,” he said. He noted that Selena once rented a botanical garden for them and remembered making movie nachos for Gomez for Valentine’s Day and frying her favorite Texas pickles for her.
  • Dress for success: It’s not about wearing the most expensive thing, but rather the perfect mix of high-low, like a vintage Prada jacket and a killer thrift store find.
  • Self-care matters: Good skin, not showering every day and a distinctive scent (tobacco and cotton candy) that makes you smell “a bit like a man.” [and] a bit feminine.”
  • Be a great host: Blanco said he loves hosting dinner parties and often invites people who don’t know each other or shouldn’t even get together to make things interesting. “I want someone who writes songs to sit next to an 80-year-old florist,” he told the magazine. “I think age is nothing more than a number. I want a 3-year-old to sit next to a scientist and just listen to what he’s talking about because I know it’s going to be crazy.”
  • Mothers are important: Blanco’s best friend is his mother, with whom he goes to the farmers’ market every Sunday. He also cooks her lunch, gives her a new orchid every Mother’s Day, and they go swimming and gossip together.
  • Turn gift giving into a fine art: Never get what everyone else is buying by remembering a friend’s words and using that memory to get them a gift they actually want. To make things even sexier, Blanco also noted that most of his gifts are homemade. Gomez gets it. When he and Gomez first realized they were going to be together, she made him a bear that said, “I miss you so much.” You’ll be okay. “See you when I get back,” as his hand was squeezed.
  • No ghosting: Blanco has never completely ghosted anyone – “you have to be demonic to completely haunt someone” – because he believes a gentleman would never do that. “I totally understand, if you go on a date and the guy is totally creepy – then you should completely freak him out,” he said. “But I don’t want to bother anyone. I always think when I do something like that, I think of my mother and say, ‘Oh, I want to treat this person the way I would treat my mother and the way I would want someone to treat my mother.'”

The Late Show Host Stephen Colbert will announce this year’s Sexiest Man Alive cover star on Tuesday night (November 12).
