The alleged existence of this remaster was first brought to light courtesy of user Anshlun World of Warcraft centric WowHead Forums.

“The information can be viewed publicly on BlizzTracker,” he continued. “You can also see the complete configuration file there.” Anshlun elaborated.

Additionally, according to the aforementioned Blizzard API tracker, BlizzTrack is the Warcraft II: Remastered Internal Alpha is currently being updated regularly, with the last update occurring approximately eight hours prior to publication of this article.

While Blizzard has not yet officially confirmed the game’s existence, the developer is expected to seek approval Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct will be released on November 13th, it seems almost certain that the Warcraft II Remaster should be a crown jewel of current events.

The original Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness was launched in 1995, expanding the strategic offering of the RTS series to include naval combat in particular, and received the award Beyond the Dark Portal Expansion a year later.

And while the original received very positive reviews due to Blizzard’s previous remastering efforts, there’s no guarantee that the remaster will be well-received by players and critics alike.

For example 2020 Warcraft III: Reforged is widely considered to be inferior to the 2002 original in almost every way, with numerous problems including missing features, a restrictive map editor designed to ensure that Blizzard could dictate and own what was created, and the final version having far worse graphics than what was promised in the game’s announcement trailers.

Worse still, when Newly forged started, it was an update for Warcraft IIIThis deprives players of access to the original form of the game.

Although Blizzard quickly implemented refunds, apologized, and addressed all sorts of issues during release week, their efforts did little to quell player anger and left many upset with the entire experience.

According to “people familiar with the plans” who spoke to Bloomberg, Warcraft III: Reforged was so poorly received by players and considered such a disaster by Blizzard executives that the development team that worked on it was pulled from work on 2021 Diablo II: Resurrected.

And that ultimately proved to be the right decision for the developer, censorship aside. Risen was well received by critics and not nearly as reviled as Newly forged (although some pieces felt they criticized the graphics, which they felt changed the original’s art style for the worse, as well as its bot infestation).

Ultimately, whether or not Warcraft II: Remastered What lies in the players’ future will be announced with the above-mentioned hosts from Blizzard Warcraft 30th anniversary directly on November 13th.
