Boat accident in Key West leaves one dead and four injured after hitting sandbar – NBC 6, South Florida

One person was killed and four others were injured Thursday when their boat crashed in Key West, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

The 39-foot deep-impact boat was traveling in North Key West Harbor before 4 p.m. when it “hit a sandbar and rolled, ejecting five of the occupants,” according to preliminary information from the FWC.

The victims were taken to hospitals for treatment, but one did not survive.

The FWC said there were a total of seven people on the boat.

It was not immediately clear why the ship ran aground. The authorities also did not provide any further information about the victims.
