Brendan Rodgers delights fans with surprise decision ahead of Celtic’s clash with Kilmarnock

Celtic face Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon.

Only Aberdeen can match the Hoops’ unbeaten run in the league and they will be keen to maintain that record this weekend.

Since the 7-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, Brendan Rodgers’ team has been unbeaten in seven games in all competitions (W5, D2).

They sent shockwaves across Europe when they beat Bundesliga side RB Leipzig 3-1 three days after their sixth Scottish League Cup victory against league rivals Aberdeen.

Celtic’s most recent Premiership game was against Dundee United, where goals from Alistair Johnston and Arne Engels gave Rodgers’ side a comfortable 2-0 win.

It was the second of their four-game winning streak, and Rodgers will likely make a surprising selection decision to extend that streak to five games in a row.

Sunday’s opponents have struggled for form this season, winning just three of their 11 games Also Eliminated from the Europa League and the Europa Conference League in the first rounds.

With a fully fit squad, Rodgers has a wealth of options ahead of the game and his side are overwhelming favorites to leave Rugby Park with three points to their name.

Predicted Celtic XI

Rodgers was given a clean bill of health ahead of Sunday’s showdown, so he is likely to name an unchanged lineup from the team that beat Leipzig in midweek.

Kasper Schmeichel starts between the posts with a defensive wall of Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Greg Taylor in front of him.

Callum McGregor has been one of Celtic’s most consistent players this season. He should anchor the midfield and link up with Engels and Reo Hatate in the middle of the park.

Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn scored a brace against Leipzig and should keep his place on the right wing, while Daizen Maeda will line up on the opposite flank.

Adam Idah will do it urge to take the lead, but that responsibility will likely fall to talisman Kyogo Furuhashi.

(4-3-3): Schmeichel; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Trusty, Taylor; Engels, McGregor, Hatate; Kuhn, Furuhashi, Maeda.
