Calais Campbell: The best way to win is for the defense to get off the field

The Rams took snaps into Miami territory on each of their final seven possessions Monday night, reaching the red zone three times but never finding the end zone.

Miami’s defense allowed the Rams to convert just three of their 12 third downs on the night, and they had four sacks and two turnovers to give their offense a chance to score enough points for a 23-15 win .

Senior defensive tackle Calais Campbell was right in the middle of the action. He had one of the sacks and hit a pass that Anthony Walker intercepted in the first half, in keeping with the motto of giving the other side of the ball as many opportunities as possible.

“The best way to win is Leave the field“said Campbell in his post-game press conference. “The defense should always bring the ball back to the offense. They have firepower; We just have to keep feeding them. So the third down is a money down.”

The win moved the Dolphins to 3-6 and Campbell said, “If we play our best ball, we can beat anyone.” Monday’s effort reinforces that argument and the Dolphins must now prove they can do it consistently.
