CENTCOM announces strikes against Iran-linked targets in Syria

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) recently announced that US forces carried out retaliatory strikes against Iran-linked targets on Monday.

In a statement obtained by Fox News, CENTCOM said the attacks were in response to “multiple attacks” against U.S. forces.

“Today, U.S. CENTCOM forces conducted strikes against nine targets in two locations
“These are ties to Iranian groups in Syria in response to multiple attacks on US personnel in Syria in the last 24 hours,” the statement said.

“These attacks will impact the ability of Iranian-backed groups to plan and launch future attacks on U.S. and coalition forces who are in the region conducting D-ISIS operations,” CENTCOM added.

CENTCOM said last week that B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers from Minot Air Force Base’s 5th Bomb Wing had arrived in the region, but did not specify where the weapons were sent.

Last week, an Iranian activist was charged with attempting to assassinate President-elect Trump. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has denied the allegations.
