ChatGPT is currently unavailable. Siri integration in iOS 18.2 affected

OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot ChatGPT is currently unavailable, making the platform inaccessible to users around the world on Friday evening. The outage also affected the integration with Siri in the beta version of iOS 18.2.

According to OpenAI, the company has already identified the cause of the problem and is currently working on implementing a solution. Although OpenAI says it will restore ChatGPT functionality “as soon as possible,” there is no estimate as to when the service will be back online.

Many users are currently seeing random error messages when trying to use ChatGPT.

With iOS 18.2 beta introducing new Apple Intelligence features, Apple has finally enabled the promised Siri integration with ChatGPT. This feature allows users to interact with the OpenAI chatbot directly from the Siri interface. However, the outage also means that this interaction is broken for many iPhone, iPad and Mac users using the latest beta software.

It’s worth noting that iOS users can interact with GPT for free via Siri, without even needing an OpenAI account. However, Apple also allows users to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus and link their account to Siri directly in iOS Settings, allowing them to benefit from paid features.
