Chicago traffic: Woman critically injured in head-on crash in Lincoln Park at Ashland and Wrightwood avenues, police said

CHICAGO (WLS) – A woman was critically injured after a head-on crash on the city’s north side, police said.

According to CPD, the accident occurred at 12:50 a.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of N. Ashland Avenue.

A 21-year-old woman was traveling northbound in a white sedan when she collided into a southbound silver sedan, according to police.

The 21-year-old suffered multiple cuts to her head and a leg injury and was taken to hospital in good condition.

The passenger, a 23-year-old woman, suffered a fracture; the police did not provide further details. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to be fine.

A third passenger in the white sedan refused medical treatment.

The driver of the silver sedan was a 41-year-old man. He suffered minor injuries and refused treatment, police said.

A 44-year-old woman was sitting in the back seat of the silver car. She suffered multiple cuts to her face and was hospitalized in critical condition.

There was also a 35-year-old man in the back seat. He also had several cuts on his face but was expected to be OK.

Chicago police said citations were issued as the investigation continued.
