Coaches’ Poll Top 25: Alabama moves back into the top 10, Miami falls in the college football rankings

Alabama shot back into the top 10 of the coaches’ poll after defeating LSU 42-13 to land at No. 9 in the rankings. The Tigers fell nine spots in the rankings to No. 22 after the loss, shaking up the SEC’s race for the College Football Playoff.

Additionally, Miami suffered greatly from its first loss of the season against Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes fell from No. 4 to No. 12, just one spot ahead of their ACC opponent SMU, which is tied with Boise State at No. 13. With all 55 first-place votes, Oregon now has a stranglehold on No. 1. No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Tennessee and No. 5 Penn State round out the top group.

At the bottom of the field, Louisville jumped back into the rankings at No. 24 and South Carolina, at No. 23, moved up five spots to No. 23 after defeating Vanderbilt. Iowa State remains just at No. 25 in the group after a crushing loss to Kansas, its second in a row.
