Crime task force arrests suspects in connection with 130 car thefts – Tallahassee reports

After a thorough, months-long investigation, the joint Property Crimes Task Force (PCTF), consisting of the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), arrested two suspects in connection with more than 100 vehicle thefts and thefts in Leon County this year.

Tallahassee Reports recently reported an increase in car crime. TR’s 4-week trend analysis (as of October 12) showed a 35% increase in property crimes attributed to auto-related property crimes compared to the same 4-week period in 2023.

Beginning in July, Property Crimes Task Force investigators began a thorough investigation after receiving multiple reports of vehicle break-ins and thefts throughout Tallahassee and Leon County. During the investigation, investigators discovered that two suspects were stealing vehicles in northwest Tallahassee and driving them to different neighborhoods to burglarize vehicles.

As the investigation progressed, officers responded to the 300 block of Hayden Road on October 30 for a suspect who was actively breaking into vehicles. Thanks to their quick and coordinated response, officers were able to quickly locate and take the suspect, 16-year-old Ta’Marion Little, into custody. The subsequent investigation revealed that Little was linked to a number of burglaries and thefts from vehicles in recent months, with a total of over 130 cases between July and October. Additionally, investigators identified the second suspect, 20-year-old Jayquan Duncan, and took him into custody on November 6.

Both Little and Duncan were charged with more than 130 counts of burglary of an unarmed conveyance, several counts of grand larceny of a motor vehicle and other crimes.
