Blackshear on the key moment of the fight

“It felt good. It felt smooth. I think at first I was just gauging my range and trying to figure him out. I thought he would close the area a little differently, but I got it. I found some timing. I found some setups, so that’s good. I saw several scenarios and this was one of them. In any case, I would hurt him and he would shoot desperately and I would stay behind. If I turned my back on him and he gave me submission, boom: I would take it.”

Blackshear under the pressure of consecutive losses

“I try to be indifferent to it, but I just had to keep pushing for it, just keep my nose on the pulse. I know that my performance level is where it needs to be so that I will get my Ws. (After two losses) you know you want this one. You really want that.”

Blackshear on what he wants next

“I don’t have an opponent in mind. Whoever they want to give me. I want to get back in there as quickly as possible. I’m healthy, I’m young, I’m ready to go. Honestly, I’m still aiming for one fight before the end of this year – one more fight before the end of this year, and then I’ll go full throttle in 2025 and do about five fights.”
