Deion Burks injury update: OU football WR exits with loss to Missouri

Oklahoma football receiver Deion Burks left in the fourth quarter of a 30-23 road loss to No. 22 Missouri on Saturday.

Burks collided his helmets with a Missouri defender after he made a catch with 19 seconds left in the game. The redshirt junior eventually left the field stumbling slightly after receiving help from OU’s medical staff. He did not return to the game.

This season has been a difficult one for Burks, who was expected to play a key role in OU’s offense. Last season at Purdue, he recorded a career-high 47 catches for 629 yards and seven touchdowns.

But Burks missed the last five games due to a soft tissue injury he suffered Sept. 21 against Tennessee. He then caught five passes for 44 yards on Saturday before getting injured.

OU (5-5, 1-5 SEC) is still looking for its sixth win of the season to qualify for the bowl. The Sooners have not failed to make a bowl game since 1998.
