Donald Trump confirms Elise Stefanik as US ambassador to the United Nations

President-elect Donald Trump confirmed this New York Post On Sunday, Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik will be his U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

“It is an honor to nominate Chairwoman Elise Stefanik to serve in my Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. “Elise is an incredibly strong, tough and smart America First fighter,” Trump said New York Post.

“I am truly honored that President Trump has been nominated for the position in his Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations,” Stefanik said, accepting her role.

Just hours before the report, Stefanik posted on X/Twitter on Sunday: “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are choosing to ignore the law and waive mandatory terrorism sanctions against the Palestinian government.”

“Fortunately, the Biden-Harris administration’s rewarding of terrorists is coming to an end at the expense of our great ally Israel.”

Stefanik is best known for making headlines in December 2023 when she attended a high-profile congressional hearing with the presidents of Harvard, MIT and the University of Pennsylvania to address anti-Semitism on campus and the general sense of lack of security for Jewish students.

During that hearing, Stefanik asked all three presidents directly whether the “call for genocide against the Jews” violated their respective universities’ codes of conduct, to which all three presidents responded that it depends on the context of the situation.

In May, she spoke at a Sunday meeting of the Knesset caucus for Jewish and pro-Israel students at universities around the world and declared: “There is no excuse for an American president to block aid to Israel.”

Stefanik has openly supported Israel and the fight against Hamas and anti-Semitism. “That’s why I have sponsored or supported every measure to support Israel that has been submitted to the U.S. Congress – every single one.”

For this reason, Stefanik has been, as she describes herself, “a leading advocate and partner of for years [former] president [Donald] Trump in his historic support for Israel’s independence and security.”

According to Stefanik, the fight against Hamas was a battle between “good versus evil, civilization versus barbarism, and humanity versus depravity.” She said that the majority of American citizens support Israel.

Criticism of Biden

Under Joe Biden’s presidency, Stefanik expressed extreme criticism of his administration’s foreign policy.

In April, during a press conference with House Republican leadership, she outlined the party’s points of contention over Biden’s dealings with Russia, Iran, China and Afghanistan.

“The world is less safe under Joe Biden,” Stefanik said. “His desperate policy of appeasement has left our nation and our allies vulnerable to attack.”

Stefanik said America’s enemies are not afraid of retaliation because of Joe Biden and that the U.S. must return to former President Donald Trump’s “peace through strength” policy, which House Republicans proudly support.
