Eddie Hearn talks options for ‘Boots’

November 9th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jaron “Boots” Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) successfully defended his IBF welterweight title against Karen Chukhadzhian. Ennis won by unanimous decision with scorecards showing the values ​​119-107, 117-109 and 116-110. The whole Matchroom boxing card was shown live on DAZN in over 200 countries. During the battle with Chukhadzhian, “Boots” had to overcome some difficult moments. The Ukrainian fighter was much more active than the last time the two faced each other. Although the Ukrainian fighter had more success in this rematch, Ennis did the better job, scoring a knockdown in round five – while his opponent lost a point for holding in round 10.

In the post-fight press conference, Hearn revealed: “PBC has already sent me a message and said, could we step aside (Shakhram) Giyasov and go straight to Stanionis (vs Boots)? They will look at this performance and assess their chances.”

The Matchroom Sport chairman continued: “Oscar De La Hoya tweeted we are ready for Vergil Ortiz vs Boots. I like it. But what they don’t understand is that when Boots fights these guys, it’s all about making it entertaining. The first fight was a crapshoot. I actually thought it was a good fight tonight. And by the way, I also think this guy (Chukhadzhian) beats most 147-pounders.”

Manuel Gallegos (21-2-1, 18 KOs) caused a major upset by defeating Khaili Coe (9-1-1, 7 KOs) by ninth-round TKO.

Austin Williams (17-1, 12 KOs) defeated Gian Garrido (11-2, 8 KOs) by fifth-round TKO.

Ismail Muhammad (7-0, 3 KOs) defeated Nelson Morales (5-20, 2 KOs) 40-36 x3.

Zaquin Moses (1-0, 0 KOs) defeated Michael Ruiz (1-5, 0 KOs) 40-36 x3.

Dennis Thompson (3-0, 2 KOs) defeated Edgar Ortiz Jr (8-6-2, 4 KOs) by TKO in the second round.
