Teddi Mellencamp‘s estranged husband, Edwin ArroyaveHe broke his silence after she confirmed their split.

Arroyave, 47, filed a response to Mellencamp’s divorce papers on Friday, November 8, asking the court to enforce their marriage. “Pursuant to the parties’ prenuptial agreement, all assets, income from all sources and obligations of each party are his/her separate property unless expressly provided otherwise therein,” he said in his legal documents obtained by Us weekly.

The documents continue: “The full nature and extent of [Arroyave’s] The special property is not fully known [Arroyave] at this point. [Arroyave] will amend this response and/or file and/or serve appropriate additional pleadings to set forth additional information at a later date as more information becomes available to it.”

Unlike Mellencamp’s divorce filing, Arroyave’s response lists the couple’s separation date as November 1, 2024, not October 20, 2024. He is also seeking joint legal and physical custody of their three children — Slate, 12, Dove, 4, and Cruz, 10 — while Mellencamp, 43, is seeking full custody. (The businessman is also father to eldest daughter Isabella from a previous relationship.)

Mellencamp announced her plans to file for divorce on Saturday, November 2nd.

“After much care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” he said Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum wrote via Instagram. “My children are my first priority and I am ensuring that their privacy and well-being are respected in this new chapter.”

She concluded: “I did not want to make a public statement, but in an effort to protect my family from inappropriate speculation and rumors, I felt openness, honesty and vulnerability was the best way forward.”

Less than a week before Mellencamp shocked Bravo fans with her breakup announcement, she had Arroyave by her side as she hosted the “Cure Melanoma” gala.

“I always say that life and pain are inextricably linked, and seeing @teddimellencamp embrace her pain and use it once again for the greater good last night as she hosted the @curemelanoma gala was a beautiful reminder of that “What she’s capable of,” he wrote via Instagram on October 27. “Your story has already saved lives. And I couldn’t be prouder that she will continue to save more. I love you, Teds.”

A few months earlier, Arroyave celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary.

“Thirteen years ago I married the woman I thought was the woman of my dreams, but over the years I realized that she is not only the woman of my dreams, but also the mother of my dreams, the woman of my dreams and “The love of my life,” he wrote in July. “She also keeps a nasty calendar. Thank you for everything you do for me and our family. I love you @teddimellencamp.”

The couple almost broke up in 2017 during Mellencamp’s first season RHOBH. (She was a housewife in seasons 8 to 10.)

Some celebrity couples have made it, others haven’t been so lucky. The year 2024 began with a handful of Hollywood duos calling it quits. Fans were shocked when Bachelorette couple Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo split after four years of marriage. Us Weekly confirmed on January 2 that the chiropractor has filed for divorce […]

“When we first started, I remember my first day, honestly, I was like, ‘F–, when am I going to tell everyone I’m getting a divorce?’ Like, when do I do that?’” Teddi said Tamra Judge during a March 2023 episode of her podcast “Two Ts in a Pod.” “We’re at our absolute worst moment because honestly for us it was really about a power struggle.”

She continued at the time: “We were always kind of equals when we were together. I rode, I was competitive and I was all of those things. Then I couldn’t get pregnant naturally, I did all those IVFs. Then suddenly he was in charge of our finances, and I had never been that way before. I’ve never had no money of my own, I’ve worked since I was 17. Then I just started hating him.”

As she explained, it took more self-love and communication to resolve the issues.

Earlier this month, a source exclusively shared Us that the duo’s split was “a long time coming” as there had been “ups and downs for over seven years.” The insider noted that they “have been in therapy over the years” but ultimately agreed that “they are better as co-parents and can be amicable in the future.”
