Elizabeth Warren calls on Democrats to “take advantage of opportunities to fight back” despite Trump’s victory.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., urged Democrats on Wednesday to look for “opportunities to fight back” despite President-elect Donald Trump’s election victory.

Senator Warren, who won re-election to the Senate this week, shared a video with X in which he acknowledged the “sadness” that supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris may be feeling.

“Donald Trump won the election and the consequences will be real and devastating,” the senator said. “But I remind myself and you that there will still be opportunities to fight back on the road ahead.”

I can’t tell you we’re going to win all of these battles. “I can’t tell you we’re going to win most or even some of these,” she continued. “But when we arrive at each of these moments, we will be faced with the choice of giving up or moving on.”

Senator Warren told Democrats that “extremists” would face “apathy” and “cynicism” after the election. She explained that she refused to “give them that satisfaction” and encouraged others to do the same.

“We will continue to fight for each other,” she promised.

Other Democrats have taken a different approach, expressing frustration with their party following Harris’ defeat. Outgoing Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., said Wednesday that his party needs an “examination of conscience.”

“A majority of Americans are unaffiliated with the party, and the party must ask itself why that is,” Rep. Bowman wrote of X.

“Kitchen table issues need to be at the forefront because they are related to everything else,” he emphasized. “The party must address the needs and desires of everyday Americans.”

Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., who won re-election on Tuesday, repeated the call for “conscience examination” during an appearance on CNN on Wednesday. She said at the time that the Democratic Party was “getting the message from a lot of people that we don’t hear them.”

“I hope we take the time to do the necessary soul-searching,” said Rep. Dingell.
