Elon Musk comments on Trump’s personnel decisions: sources

In the days since Election Day, billionaire Elon Musk has become an influential figure in President-elect Donald Trump’s orbit, providing input on personnel decisions and playing a major role in shaping the incoming Trump administration, multiple sources tell ABC News.

Multiple sources tell ABC News that the world’s richest man has spent nearly every day with Trump at Mar-a-Lago since Election Day.

Musk appeared in Trump’s family photo on election night, was seen dining with future first lady Melania Trump and played golf with the Trump family over the weekend.

But his presence goes far beyond that, as sources told ABC News that Musk is now influencing Trump’s personnel decisions.

Musk was present for at least two of the president-elect’s phone calls with foreign executives, sources told ABC News. During a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last week, Trump even handed the phone to Musk so he could also speak with Zelensky, sources told ABC News. According to sources, Musk was also present on a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

After Trump announced that he had chosen Rep. Elise Stefanik to be his U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Musk expressed concerns on his

“Elise is great, but losing her from the House might be too risky, at least for now,” Musk posted early Monday morning.

On Sunday, Musk weighed in on the Republican Senate leadership race, endorsing Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott.

Musk is also close to Howard Lutnick, who is leading Trump’s transition to the White House.

Musk had a profound impact on Trump’s campaign, including through a multibillion-dollar door-knocking campaign, a social media megaphone and a $1 million sweepstakes for battleground voters.
