Emergency services fight a bush fire in Malibu under a red flag warning

Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters responded to a 5-acre brush fire in the Malibu Bluffs Wednesday morning.

The department reported the Broad Fire at West Pacific Coast Highway and Malibu Canyon Road around 9:30 a.m

There is a national weather service a particularly dangerous situation warning (PDS) is issued in the region and beyond, warning of the possibility of “extreme fire behavior and rapid growth.”

Santa Ana winds could produce “damaging” gusts between 50 and 70 mph on Wednesday along the Malibu coast and Ventura County coastal plain, as well as other coastal and valley areas of LA and Ventura County, according to the NWS.

Humidity in these areas is expected to drop to 8 to 15 percent, and conditions are expected to continue through Thursday and Friday, forecasters said.
